Maui Disaster Relief

maui

As you may be aware, the recent fires in Maui have left many families in that community displaced and needing basic necessities. The cause hits close to home for many of our current families with ties to the island. To support those affected by this devastating event, our middle school (along with 2nd-5th grades) is launching a service project to collect hygiene products (travel size) for the victims of the Maui fires.

How Can You and Your Child Get Involved?

We invite you and your child to participate in this important initiative by contributing hygiene products. Our ultimate goal is to collect enough products to make 300 complete kits and stuff them in the 300 backpacks that have already been graciously donated.  These products can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the fires. We kindly ask that you consider donating items such as:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Travel Size Toothpaste
  • Travel Size Body Wash or Bar Soap
  • Travel Size Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Hair Brush / Combs
  •  Washcloths

* We are also collecting Gift Cards in denominations no larger than $25 to Starbucks, Costco, Panda Express, Walmart, Target, Safeway, Sonic, Jack in the Box, Wendy's, Canes, and KFC

You can drop off donations in our school office from 9/7/23 to 9/26/23. Your child can also bring their donations to their homeroom class.

Why is this Project Important?

This service project offers a unique opportunity for our students to learn the value of empathy, community and the impact that small acts of kindness can have on those in need. By participating, they will not only be helping the victims of the Maui fires directly but also develop a sense of responsibility and compassion that will serve them well throughout their lives as Christ followers.

Important Dates:

  • Collection Dates: 9/7/23 to 9/26/23
  • Donation Drop-off Location: School Office or Homeroom
